Survival Shelter April
16-17 $65 |
| In
this
class, we will build simple survival shelters that each student will
have an
opportunity to sleep in overnight. This
class will cover the essentials of building a shelter, in various
situations
with only the material nature provides. These
shelters will work in rain, snow, wind,
and even 20 below
zero. This is an essential skill to
know, and there is nothing like sleeping on the earth wrapped in her
protection. A sense of comfort in
general will be heightened by this knowledge. This
class is fun, provides invaluable
experience, and a foundational
earth skill for your “tool belt”. |

Traditional
Appalachian
White Oak Basketry
April
8-9 $55 |
| Clyde
Jenkins, homesteader, traditional knowledge keeper of old time
Appalachian
skills, and master Basket maker will teach this awesome class.
Before bags and other disposable packaging,
baskets were essential to everyday life.
In this region of Appalachia, white oak trees were split into canes,
and
then woven into strong durable baskets.
This is a hands-on workshop where participants will make their own
basket
from tree to finished product. Clyde
has a great teaching style and a wealth of knowledge. This is a
don’t miss class! |

dance of life. Come discover with us. |

| Primitive Fire Making May
22 $45 |
Have you
ever wondered how to make a fire without matches? Fire has always
been the center of communities, and the ability to make a fire was
universal. In this class we will cover various aspects of
firemaking, and learn some of the methods of fire by friction.
Each student will make their own bowdrill set to take home. There
will be ample time to practice in class with the help of experienced
instructors. (Carving with a knife is essential for
this class)
